UK weather LIVE: Nottingham hit by tornado as storm brings chaos to Britain

A tornado has hit Nottingham as a new storm is set to bring more chaos to Britain today.

West Bridgford and parts of Nottingham have been battered by the tornado, with fallen trees narrowly missing houses, broken branches blocking roads, roofs ripped off, and damage to homes and local businesses.

Winds of up to 55mph are expected as well as brutal downpours, with the Met Office putting a weather warning in place until 10pm on Monday night.

The yellow warning for wind covers Northern Ireland, Ireland, Wales and southern England – including Manchester, London, Hull, Norwich and the entire south coast.

The severe storm is expected to wreak havoc across Britain’s roads and railways, and could cause power cuts.
