Princess Kate and King Charles health statements made so soon for 'one key reason'

It has been announced that Princess Kate underwent a planned abdominal surgery and is not expected to resume royal duties until after Easter. However, shortly after in a shock announcement Buckingham Palace revealed that the King too will attend hospital next week.

King Charles is set to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate, with the monarch postponing his engagements for his recovery.

Commenting on why Charles announced his upcoming treatment on the same day as his daughter-in-law’s surgery, a royal expert said it was to “avoid unncessary journeys”.

ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship said: “We are told the King had a number of meetings planned tomorrow at Dumfries House – including with members of the Cabinet.

“But on doctor’s advice, he has been told to postpone them. The announcement has been made to avoid any unnecessary journeys to Scotland.”
