Prince William has been by Princess Kate's bedside 'every day' after her surgery

Prince William has been visiting Princess Kate in hospital every day following her surgery but the pair’s children are yet to visit her.

Kate was admitted to the London Clinic at the start of last week for successful abdominal surgery where she is expected to remain recovering for up to 14 days.

William has cleared his diary, cancelling official visits and meetings, and has not been mentioned in the Court Circular royal diary since Kate went into hospital.

The Princess of Wales is not expected to return to official engagements until after Easter but is thought to be carrying out some work from her hospital bed.

It is thought William is holding down the fort at Adelaide Cottage looking after the children and doing the school run while Kate is in hospital.

And according to the Sun, William has visited Kate every day since her surgery over a week ago, but as their children have been at school during her hospital stay they are yet to visit.

Kate is known for being a very keen mother, with Hello magazine’s royal editor Emily Nash saying she will have been doing her best to keep up with their lives.

She said: “Kate loves FaceTiming the children when she is working away overseas so I’m sure they will be in regular contact while she’s in the hospital, and the kids will be keen to see her as soon as she’s well enough.

“She loves having her family around her so will be looking forward to getting home and having cuddles with the kids.

“Both William and Kate are very hands-on parents – they take the kids to school, attend sports matches and concerts and try to be home for bedtime as much as they can. While Kate is in hospital, William will be at home keeping things as normal as possible.”

News of Kate’s hospitalisation was said to have come as a surprise to her friends and family and was announced by Kensington Palace last Wednesday, just 90 minutes before Buckingham Palace revealed King Charles was due to undergo surgery for an enlarged prostate.

In a statement, Kensington Palace said it would not be commenting on the princess’s private medical details but confirmed the issue was non-cancerous.

The statement read: “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible, and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
