Trump said at the time: “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me.”

Harry’s US visa application has been the subject of a long legal battle ever since The Heritage Foundation – a conservative think tank – claimed that the Duke’s admission of past drug use in his memoir Spare suggests he may have lied on his application.
A lawsuit was subsequently filed against the US Department of Homeland Security demanding that Harry’s documents be made public.
The foundation has argued that the prince either lied on his visa application or was given special treatment because a history of drug use would normally disqualify an applicant from being granted a visa.
But Harry formally confirmed earlier this month that he is now a US resident – four years after he and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, moved to Southern California.
The formal acknowledgement of Harry’s US residency underscored the prince’s increasing estrangement from Britain, after he and Meghan walked away from royal duties to pursue lucrative media deals in the US.
