'I'm a fitness expert – here's how to blast stubborn love handles in eight minutes'

If you are fed up with jiggly love handles bulging over trousers or jeans, then Holly Braithwaite of POW8R has the best exercise plan to get you into shape.

Her eight-minute kettlebell workout targets flabby chunks of fat around the midsection of the body, including those stubborn love handles that can age you.

“This routine fits perfectly into your day and delivers noticeable results by strengthening your core,” said Holly. Each of the following exercises should be performed for 40 seconds followed by a 20-second rest, then repeat.

As the whole set of exercises can be completed in four minutes (including the rest periods), when done twice, you literally are targeting the problem area in only eight minutes.

By commiting to this simple eight-minute exercise plan, it will only be a matter of time before you see the addictive results that will empower you to keep on going.

Kettlebell swings

To target the core and midsection, kettlebell swings can burn off belly fat to help tone you up. “This is all about the hip and glute power,” Holly explained.

“Maintain a shoulder-width distance between your feet and thrust the kettlebell forward from between your legs. Swing up to chest height. It’s a great total body movement.”

Goblet squats

Working out the lower body, goblet squats burn more calories due to larger muscle engagement, so they’re a great addition to any weight loss plan.

Holly explained: “For the goblet squat, hold the kettlebell close to your chest and lower into a comfortable squat. Keep your feet hip-width apart, then push up through your heels. This exercise targets your quads, glutes, and hamstrings.”

Kettlebell deadlifts

This exercise move focuses on trimming down the waistline, firming up the ever-so-important core and reducing fat around the midsection.

Holly instructed: “With the kettlebell between your feet on the floor, hinge forward to grab it, keeping your back straight. From there, stand up straight lifting the weight. It’s great for the posterior chain.”

Russian twists

Another great move to tackle love handles and to slim the waist is the Russian twists, which will help to curve out a flattering silohuette.

“Make sure to engage your abs and obliques in this one – it’s a fab exercise for the whole core region! Hold the kettlebell close to your chest, twisting carefully from side to sid,” said Holly.

While eight minutes may seem like too little to make a difference, taking this small step everyday will compound with great results when combined with healthy eating.

Holly, however, said you may only need to incorporate the kettlebell workout into your fitness routine three times per week and still see amazing progress over time.

Whatever you decide to do when it comes to losing weight, to make sure it’s sustainable and healthy, the NHS recommends only losing up to two pounds a week.
