A carpark at Gatwick Airport has caught fire, according to local reports posted online.
A social media user posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, has said in a post that a “massive” fire is currently ripping through a carpark near the airport’s north terminal.
They added the fire is now “spreading”, with a picture showing orange flames appearing to tear through multiple vehicles.
The fire is the second at a UK airport in a year, with another having ripped through Luton Airport in October 2023.
The earlier fire ignited a multi-storey car park and destroyed 1,200 vehicles, with pictures showing towering flames and black smoke emanating from the location.
