Drivers following TikTok car modification videos could risk thousands in fines and repairs

The company also warned motorists not to follow another video, in which a user stores a scented candle inside their car to give it a nice smell.

Whilst the motorist did not light the candle in the car, instead letting it melt in the hot interior, Jardine Motors warned that the melted wax could spill and cause damage to the car.

Highly perfumed scented candles, much like air fresheners, could also make it more difficult for some occupants to breath.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues to affect drivers, Jardine Motors warned those that have a vehicle with a clamped wheel should not follow a tip which supposedly shows motorists how to remove it.

The spokesperson added: “Another online hack which could land you in more trouble than it’s worth is how to remove a wheel clamp. If your car has received a parking punishment, the best course of action is to not remove the clamp yourself.

“The TikTok hack shows users how to remove a wheel clamp using a deflated ball, but did you know that removing this crucial item yourself could lead to a 51-week prison sentence? Instead, it is best to contact your local police and pay your existing parking fines.”
