Why Mike and Zara Tindall are 'essential' for the Royal Family

Zara and Mike Tindall have been deemed “essential” members of the Royal Family – although they are not working royals.

The couple, who got married in 2011, do not carry out any royal engagements and, as non-working royals, they can “speak more freely”.

PR expert Andy Barr told GB News that the couple hold importance in the Royal Family’s “positive” reputation.

He said: “The Royal Family is being complemented by the likes of the Tindalls.”

The couple are said to be close to the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are often deemed the future of the monarchy.

Mr Barr added: “The Tindall family are close enough to the Royal Family to know what goes on behind the scenes, but distant enough to be able to speak more freely.

“Every public interaction that the Royal Family have with the Tindalls results in positive headlines.

“This is because of the fun family vibe that Zara, Mike and their children give off.”

Zara and Mike – and their three children – live on Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.

She said: “He isn’t an uncle, of course, he’s a cousin, by marriage, but he acts, and is loved, like an uncle, by the kids and all alike, like the lost uncle.”

As well as the adults, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all appear to be close to Zara and Mike’s three children – Mia, nine, Lena, five, and two-year-old Lucas.

During this year’s Christmas Day walk in Sandringham, Louis, five, melted hearts after he was spotted holding onto Mia Tindall’s hand.

Mia’s bond with Princess Charlotte, eight, was also clear as the pair were pictured chatting away during the walk.
