Boots, Argos and Costa set to close more stores in 2024 – full list of affected locations

Boots

Boots announced it will be closing over 300 branches in the next year which will see many high streets lose their local branch.

This is part of the retailer’s plans to reduce its sites from 2,200 to 1,900, and close the pharmacies that are not meeting “financial targets”.

More than 20 branches closed in 2023, including York, Plymouth, Manchester and London, and at least 16 will be shutting down in the New Year.

A Boots spokesperson explained: “Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed.

“And focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up-to-date environment.”

Argos

Argos will be closing its stores in Dundee and Carlisle in March 2024. According to a spokesperson, shutting down the sites has been a “difficult decision”.

The retailer, owned by Sainsbury’s, announced its plan to close 100 shops in the next 12 months in order to reduce its standard stores but expand its presence in supermarkets.
