Whinging leftie Gary Neville takedown of Rishi Sunak brutally backfires

Whinging leftie Gary Neville’s takedown of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak brutally backfired when no one could realise what he meant.

The former Manchester United legend quote tweeted Mr Sunak congratulating Luke Humphries on becoming the 2024 World Darts Champion after beating Luke Littler with two laughing emojis.

Mr Sunak’s tweet said: “Congratulations Luke, a great win tonight. What an incredible final to end a historic championship. I know that @lukeh180 and @LukeTheNuke180 will be leading the sport for years to come.”

While Mr Neville found Mr Sunak’s tweet funny, his followers couldn’t work out what had tickled Mr Neville.

Ramesh Saxena asked: “What’s funny.” Jake Buckley claimed: “Can tell he had that scheduled to post well before the final regardless of who won.”

Darragh added: “What’s funny about that? Strange post.” Sammy Janaway commented: “Can tell he had that scheduled to post well What’s funny? Luke did win and it was a historic final.”

Other X/Twitter users speculated whether Mr Sunak had known which Luke had won and whether the post had been scheduled in advance.

Andy O’Grady said: “How to epitomise sitting on the fence… ‘congratulations Luke’.” Howard added: “I wonder if he knows what the second name is. He was lucky they are both called Luke.”

Mr Sunak’s and Mr Neville’s tweets came after a highly anticipated World Darts Championship which saw the surprise rise of 16-year-old Luke Littler.

Following his astonishing journey to the final, Mr Littler was fired into the public’s consciousness and led to more people watching the game, including Piers Morgan.

The TalkTV presenter told his followers that after discovering his mother was watching the game, Mr Littler had “crossed the Rubicon”.

While there was speculation over whether Mr Littler’s success will continue after his storming run, there are a lot of questions over when the UK will hold its next general election.

In the face of growing pressure, Mr Sunak told journalists that he is working on the assumption that it will be held “in the second half of this year”.

His announcement comes after Labour’s Emily Thornberry claimed that the date for the next general election was “the worst kept secret in Parliament”.

She added that she believed the nation was heading for a “May election” and that the date for the Spring Budget “seems to confirm that”.
