Unthinkable tragedy behind Meghan Markle's new Instagram pictures

Meghan Markle delighted royal fans this week after she posed with celebrity pals Kelly McKee Zajfen and Abigail Spencer for a good cause with a heartbreaking story.

The Duchess of Sussex was reunited with her pals and wore blue jeans and a white T-shirt with “Love like a mother” written in a red font across it, ahead of Mother’s Day in the US, which falls on May 12.

The new snaps were posted on Instagram in support of Kelly McKee Zajfen’s charity Alliance of Moms, which supports pregnant and parenting youth in LA’s foster care system so that they can build a positive future for themselves and their children.

The three women were pictured smiling and embracing, as Kelly thanked them for being an “undeniable force of pure love”.

She captioned the pictures: “When we speak about the people in our lives who lift us up when you need it with undeniable force of pure love I think of these two. You inspire me. You pick me up when I need it and you Love Like A Mother!”

But it’s the story behind the charity’s creation that’s heart-wrenching as Kelly opened up about her tragedy in a new interview.

The 44-year-old founded the Alliance of Moms after her nine-year-old son Georgie died after contracting a viral illness in 2022.

She told People earlier this month: “The mornings are the hardest for me. Waking to the reality that my son is gone. It is hard to articulate this kind of pain…

“The moment I wake, I relive our last moments together. It is traumatic, painful, and so very vivid…

“The moment my son died, part of me did too. The previous version of myself was no longer, and the new me introduced herself.”

Kelly added: “We had no idea when we took him into the hospital that 12 hours later, he would not make it. My 9-year-old son George died. Died of Covid and viral meningitis.

“A healthy and vibrant boy could not fight it. We lost him. I kissed him. But it was to say goodbye. It is impossible to know how to survive this type of grief. “
