Ukraine ‘bleeding out’ as Kyiv now outgunned ‘20 to 1’ by Russia’s advancing troops

Ukraine is “bleeding out” on the frontlines as a lack of military aid leaves them severely outgunned, soldiers on the frontline have warned.

Russian forces are currently taking more and more territory in Ukraine as part of their offensive.

Kyiv’s forces, meanwhile, are running desperately low on ammunition and manpower.

This is made worse by the delay of US military aid as Republican Party lawmakers attempt to block the funding in the House of Representatives.

Oz Katerji, a journalist based in Ukraine, posted on X: “I embedded with an artillery brigade on the frontlines of Europe. What I saw there should terrify Western leaders.

“Ukraine is bleeding out, and without immediate ammunition deliveries the total collapse of the eastern front is at risk.”

In a story for Foreign Policy, he spoke to Ukranain soldiers on the frontline in the east of the country.

A soldier called Vladislav described how Ukrainian troops are “paying with lives” for their lack of ammunition.

He added: “On the good days, between 10- and 20-to-1…and on the bad days, it almost feels like they have an unlimited supply.

“Without the ammunition, we have to rely on our reserves.

“They build defenses, then they advance, then they build defenses, then they advance again.”

Oleh, a tank driver, also said: “We listen to their suffering, and we feel useless.

“These politicians should come and fight alongside me. Then they will see for themselves.

“If we don’t fight them back, then NATO will be left to fight Russia.”

Ukraine warned on Thursday that the delay of US aid is making “World War 3” more likely.

Ukraine’s prime minister Denys Shmyal said Ukraine needs “this money yesterday, not tomorrow, not today.”

Speaking to the BBC in Washington DC on Wednesday, Shmyhal said: “If we will not protect… Ukraine will fall. So the global, the global system of security will be destroyed… and all the world will need to find… a new system of security.

“Or, there will be many conflicts, many such kinds of wars, and in the end of the day, it could lead to the Third World War.”
