Prince Harry may be on the brink of renouncing his Royal titles, having declared the US as his “new country”, a royal photographer claimed.
In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the Royal Family for California. This year, the Duke of Sussex confessed that he has “considered” applying for US citizenship – an act that would necessitate relinquishing his Royal titles.
Recently, Harry announced the US as his “new country” of residence in an updated Companies House filing. Business documents for his eco firm Travalyst indicate Harry as being a US resident since June 29 last year – the day King Charles asked him and Meghan to vacate Frogmore Cottage.
Arthur Edwards, 83, a Royal photographer, believes this is an indication that Harry might soon abandon his Royal titles.
He told The Sun: “It’s another sign that he’s really cut ties with the Royal Family. I’ve always said that I thought Prince Harry would one day come back here and work for the Royal Family.”
“It now looks pretty certain that he’s made his mind up that America is home and that’s where he wants to stay. One day he may even apply for citizenship. That way he’ll have to give up his title – the Duke of Sussex.”
Mr Edwards concluded: “It’s quite sad because Harry was a very important part of the royal family here and he was much loved.”
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, may revisit the idea of US citizenship on his upcoming return trip to the UK next month. The Duke, who co-founded eco-friendly travel company Travalyst in 2019, previously resided in the UK but is due to return in September to mark ten years of the Invictus Games.
He told Good Morning America earlier this year: “An American citizenship has crossed my mind, but it’s not a high priority.”
