UK snow latest: New maps show 292-mile polar blast may hit Britain for 12 hours

We may be approaching mid-March and for large parts of the country the weather appears to be improving. However, according to some forecasters, Britain may be in for frosty conditions next week.

According to WX Charts, the UK may see snow on March 21, with the wintery stretch covering the entirety of Scotland, going all the way down to an area near Leeds.

It is essential to note that the Met Office, which is the UK’s official national weather service, maintains that predicting snowfall more than two days from the date in question is unreliable.

The WX Charts’ radar suggests that northern Britain is poised to see a nearly 300-mile band of snow stay in place for 12 hours between 6am and 6pm on March 21.

According to the radar, the affected area goes from around Leeds, all the way north to near Wick in north-eastern Scotland. Most of Scotland is predicted by the radar to see snow, with the exception of parts of the Hebrides.

Southern areas of the country are predicted to remain dry according to WX Charts, while heavy rain is forecast between Manchester and the Scottish Borders.

There may also be a patch of snow in Northern Ireland but confined to a very small area north of Belfast.

Temperatures in parts of Scotland are expected to drop to a bitter 0C, meanwhile, northern England will enjoy a much milder 7C. Further down south we can expect temperatures to linger around 10C, according to weather maps.
