UK hot weather: New maps show exact dates sizzling 20C mini heatwave to hit Britain

New weather maps show parts of the UK are expected to reach 20C in a few days’ time as milder conditions dominate. Brits in Greater London can look forward to 20C on Saturday (April 13), while temperatures range from 13C-17C in south west England to 10C-15C in the north of England, according to Netweather maps.

Warmer temperatures look set to return a week later with 18C in Scotland and Northern Ireland on April 21, falling to 18C in Northern Ireland the next day before the mercury starts to drop down, Netweather maps show.

Netweather’s long range forecast expects unsettled and milder conditions in the second half of April, with spells of rain and showers across all parts. It adds: “Rainfall amounts greater for all areas compared to the first half of the month.”

The Met Office’s long range forecast (April 15-24) says winds will affect the north or northwest to begin this period, with some longer spells of rain, some heavy with a risk of snow over higher ground.

It should be drier and brighter further south though strong winds could develop, pushing temperatures below normal. Milder conditions will then prevail, with pressure building, meaning more dry weather in the south and east especially, according to the Met Office.

Meanwhile, the forecaster expects it to be much drier and brighter in the north and east on Thursday (April 11).

Met Office meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said: “But across the south the rain band has arrived overnight and that’s going to linger for much of the day, bringing cloudier skies, probably some drizzly rain from time to time across many southern counties.”

She warned it would be across the south west where the rain could turn persistent over the coast and hills. Ms Shuttleworth added: “Elsewhere though, it should stay largely dry. There’ll be plenty of dry and bright weather, some sunshine too, particularly across the east coast through the middle of the morning.”

Highs of 19C to 20C are forecast for the south east, but towards the high teens all the way up to the east coast towards the north of Scotland, according to the Met Office.
