UK hot weather maps turn black as African plume to bring 72-hours of non-stop heat

Shocking new UK weather maps have turned black as an African plume looks set to send mercury soaring for 72 hours. Could warmer springtime weather finally be on its way? It seems as though that could be the case according to the latest predictions.

Weather maps from WXCharts reveal that temperature could be set to rocket, with a surge of hot air whisking across Britain from the Mediterranean from today until Saturday.

Met Office forecasts say that by midday today some areas of the UK will hit 17C, including Manchester and Aberdeen.

And by tomorrow, Friday, April 12, warmer temperatures are predicted – including 19C in London and its surrounding areas, according to the forecaster.

But one UK weather expert says that although the top end of temperatures could reach 21C on Friday and possibly Saturday the warmer snap won’t endure.

Jim Dale, founder and senior meteorological consultant at British Weather Services, told Express.co.uk that the warmer weather “won’t last” but that it’s nonetheless “welcome.”

Meanwhile the Met Office is predicting “some warm sunshine”.

In its five day forecast – which covers from today, Thursday, April 11 until Monday, April 15 – it said that “low cloud, some fog and patchy light rain or drizzle will affect southernmost counties of England and parts of Wales today” but “elsewhere it will be generally dry, though breezy, with some warm spells of sunshine developing.”

It added on Friday that there will be “rather cloudy with patchy rain in the north, though brighter across the far northeast of Scotland” and that “England and Wales mostly dry with warm sunshine, but cloudier in the far west.”

Its outlook for Saturday, April 12 to Monday, April 14 that people can once again expect sunnier weather.

It said: “Warm sunshine in the south and southeast on Saturday. Showery and turning cooler further northwest. Generally bright, breezy and cooler on Sunday.

Showers in the northwest. Blustery showers on Monday.”

The warmer predictions are somewhat different to yesterday’s weather maps that revealed that some parts of the UK are set for heavy snowfall for 12 hours straight towards the end of April.

The snow is predicted between Monday, April 22 from around 6pm from around Fort William in the north of Scotland to around Ayr and across to Stirling.

Today:

Low cloud, some fog and patchy light rain or drizzle will affect southernmost counties of England and parts of Wales today. Elsewhere it will be generally dry, though breezy, with some warm spells of sunshine developing.

Tonight:

Low cloud, fog and patchy rain will feed north across western and northern areas overnight. The far northeast should hold onto clear spells. Mostly dry, but cloudy towards the southeast.

Friday:

Rather cloudy with patchy rain in the north, though brighter across the far northeast of Scotland. England and Wales mostly dry with warm sunshine, but cloudier in the far west.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Warm sunshine in the south and southeast on Saturday. Showery and turning cooler further northwest. Generally bright, breezy and cooler on Sunday. Showers in the northwest. Blustery showers on Monday.
