Three fruits that can 'plump' your skin and 'boost collagen' to help you look younger

A nutrition expert has revealed that a unique trio of fruits can help promote plump skin from within.

Diet plays an important role in ageing and certain foods are able to reduce age-related symptoms.

Evidence shows that the nutritional profiles of fruit, including avocados, watermelon and pomegranate, have significant anti-ageing effects on the skin.

The antioxidant effects of these fruits are particularly helpful in fighting free radical damage as we age.

Increasing our consumption of fruit and vegetables is a prudent first step towards strengthening our defences against age-related symptoms.

However, some foods have unmatched plumping effects on the skin due to their high water content, according to a nutrition expert.

Kathryn Danzey, a health coach at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, has highlighted three foods for their unrivalled anti-ageing effects.

She told GB News: “Watermelons are full of water, which helps to hydrate both the body and skin. Keeping the body hydrated will boost skin elasticity, keeping your complexion looking plump and fresh.

“Watermelon is also packed with the antioxidant lycopene, which helps to protect the skin from sun damage.”

Numerous research have focused on this fruit’s capacity to counteract free radicals, which may help to slow down the ageing process of the skin.

Pomegranates are full of powerful phytochemicals that have similar effects.

“Some studies have shown that pomegranates can repair damaged skin and boost collagen,” said Kathryn.

This means the fruit helps to strengthen the things that keep our skin stretchy.

Kathryn also talked about how avocados, unlike the other fruits mentioned, contain anti-ageing fats. Antioxidants and monounsaturated fats, which avocados are rich in, work together to support healthy skin.

“Avocados are rich in healthy fats, as well as fibre and potassium,” Kathryn Danzey said. “This unique combination helps to nourish the skin from within.”
