The real reason Meghan Markle’s podcast to be ‘put on ice until next year’

Meghan Markle’s new podcast will not be landing on anyone’s devices for another year, it has been revealed.

The 42-year-old Duchess has had to park her audio output to concentrate on her latest Netflix series on “cooking, gardening and friendship”.

After having had her Spotify deal axed following her much-maligned Archetypes podcast, the former Suits actress struck up a deal with US network Lemonada Media.

Producers there are said to not want to cause “scheduling conflicts” as she films her new TV show.

While she has begun filming the programme for Netflix, Prince Harry has also commenced recording for his polo show for the streaming giant.

A Daily Mail source said: “The relaunch of Meghan’s Archetypes podcast got pushed back to 2025.”

Meghan disclosed that she was to be presenting a new podcast, following the abject failure of her Archetypes series, which lasted a meagre 12 episodes.

Lemonada Media will re-distribute the show as well as produce a brand new offering with the Duchess.

In a statement, Meghan wrote: “I’m proud to now be able to share that I am joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting.

“Being able to support a female founded company with a roster of thought provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a fantastic way to kick off 2024.

“Our plan to re-release Archetypes so that more people can now have access to it, as well as launching a dynamic new podcast are well in the works.

“I’m so eager to be able to share it soon, and am overjoyed to be joining the Lemonada family.”

Archetypes guests included pop legend Mariah Carey and tennis superstar Serena Williams, however, despite its big-name guests, critics branded the show “boring”.

In the wake of Spotify cancelling the Sussexes deal, Bill Simmons – Spotify’s head of podcast innovation – dubbed the couple “f****** grifters”.

Meghan and Harry put out less than 13 hours of audio during their three-year deal with the music streaming platform, but their new Lemonada deal is hoped to be part of a fresh start for the couple as they continue launching new business ventures.
