Lee Anderson hits out at lefty 'vegans' in scathing St George's Day message

Lee Anderson has taunted what he called “advacado eating vegans” with a feisty video to mark St George’s Day shared on social media.

The outspoken Reform UK MP appeared in a double-breasted suit in the brief clip, posted on X, formerly Twitter.

His accompanying comment said: “Trigger Warning.

“If you are a Guardian reading, advacado eating, Palestinian flag waving, Eddie Izzard supporting Vegan then this clip is probably not for your consumption.

“Happy St George’s Day!”

In the video he points to his cufflinks, saying: “Look at these here look, flag of St George.

“It’s St George’s Day today and this country of ours has been a gift to the world.

“Look at the industrial revolution, culture, art, music, sports.

“Everywhere you look on this planet, you see some of that.

“Oh by the way, happy birthday William Shakespeare.”

The avocado pears is an unusually oily fruit which is sometimes mocked as being a staple of middle-class suburbia.

Ashfield MP Mr Anderson’s post attracted plenty of support.

Jane Pounder commented: “So right Lee.”

Former Brexit Party MEP Belinda de Lucy added: “Perfectly put, Lee.”

Not everyone was as supportive however.

Dave Lawrence said: “Trigger warning for Lee Anderson. Palestine celebrate St George

“Dog whistle tweet pretty much like Reform – a lot of noise but goes nowhere and not too factual.”

Darren Rowe posted: “Nothing you’ve said there to disagree with.

“Those are indeed many reasons to be proud of England.

“Am I allowed to be proud of England, though, seeing as I’m a Guardian reader who eats avocados, drives an electric car and cycles occasionally, or do I need permission from you?”

Mr Anderson’s video came after Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda Bill was finally ratified by the House of Commons, clearing the way for the controversial legislation to get Royal Assent.
