Taiwan earthquake latest: Entire buildings flattened, 700 injured and many feared trapped


Four people have died, more than 700 injured and dozens of others injured after a huge earthquake rocked Taiwan that saw entire buildings collapse and a tsunami warning for Japan triggered.

The massive 7.4 magnitude tremor hammered Taiwan’s east coast on Wednesday morning in what was the with the strongest earthquake in 25 years.

At least four people have been killed, over 711 injured and at least 77 more remain trapped under rubble and debris.

President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan has ordered her team to “immediately” respond and “provide necessary assistance, and work together with local governments to minimise the impact of the disaster.”

Japan also warned of a 10-foot tsunami that is expected to hit its southwestern coast.
