Surprising way to get rid of love handles that isn't exercise

Those extra bits of flab, folding over your trousers on the sides, are called love handles.

PT Michael Fireman told Express.co.uk: “It’s common for love handles and lower belly fat to be a concern for many people.”

The appearance of love handles can be due to numerous factors, fom diet to stress levels.

Additional factors include activity levels, genetics, and exercise.

Fireman said: “The lower abdominal area can often be the most difficult part of the body to see significant weight loss.”

Yet, there are ways to achieve a more toned look without solely focusing on aerobic exercise.

“Start a food diary and be mindful of your food choices and make better choices,” advised Fireman.

“Use portion control or count your calories daily by using fitness trackers.”

When it comes to food selection, Fireman advised to “focus on whole foods”, which will help you to feel fuller for longer.

By eating foods that improve satiety and energy levels, you’re less likely to snack throughout the day on sugary foods.

Fireman added: “Reduce stress and get more sleep can massively help your ability to achieve an improved diet.”

A key way to get rid of love handles, once all these factors have been acted upon, is to engage in muscle-strengthening activities.

Fireman explained: “Muscle is active, calorie-burning tissue that helps your metabolism.”

His expert advice is to train the muscles at least three times per week.

“It takes 24 to 48 hours for your muscles to recover,” said Fireman.

“And during this process, your body is acting as a furnace for burning calories.”
