Stylist shares 3 flattering makeup look for winter – 'easier to create than people think'

Makeup can be tailored to suit any look or occasion, and there’s no better time to experiment than at Christmas.

Even for those who don’t wear it often or know how to apply it, a celebrity stylist has claimed that there are three looks everyone can pull off.

Regardless of age, skin tone or makeup abilities, glittery, smokey eyes and red lips are all something to go after this winter.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Miranda Holder, celebrity stylist and fashion expert said: “With makeup, this time of year is the perfect opportunity to try something new and have a bit of fun.

“Glitter eyeshadows are readily available, transforming a makeup look to evening glam in an instant and a cinch to use.”

While many tutorials call for expensive eyeshadows, specific brushes and upwards of three products, Miranda’s approach to this timeless classic is much easier.

She explained: “Just do your eyeshadow as usual, then after mascara and eyeliner have been applied, pop a finger (not a brush) into the glitter and simply press it onto the centre of your mobile lid (which is the bottom half).

“If a little drops down onto the mid-face that’s okay, you can either mop it up with a Q-tip or just enjoy the extra sparkle.”

Those looking to create a more sultry eyeshadow look can swap glitter for some darker shades instead – better known as the smoky eye.

Miranda claimed: “It’s easier to create than people think as they don’t have to be perfect. I like using chubby eyeshadow sticks all over the mobile lid and then blending up to just above your socket with a finger or brush, always moving up and out.

“Pop a tiny bit of shimmery lighter colour on the very inside corner of your eyes to brighten, add a good slick of mascara and you’re good to go.”

No makeup look would be complete without lips and it doesn’t get more festive or traditional than shades of rouge.

The stylist explained: “With lips, there is a shade of festive red to suit everyone from warmer terracotta tones to cooler purple-based berries.

“The colour can be as bright and solid (with a matt lipstick) or as sheer (with a tinted lip balm) as you like, so why not give it a go and add a bit of va-va-voom to your look?!”
