Strawberries will stay fresh for weeks with clever trick – 'mould doesn’t spread'

Buying strawberries can be a difficult decision, because they don’t alway last very long.

Savvy shoppers have come up with a few tricks to keep fruit from going bad too soon. For bananas, you should keep them in a cool spot away from direct sunlight. Potatoes will surprisingly last longer if kept next to apples.

There’s an equally easy hack to keep strawberries fresh for weeks. A Reddit user recently asked for a way to make their strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries last without growing mould.

Commenters had several solutions, including washing your berries in vinegar.

“The mould doesn’t spread so all the other berries are good to go!” they said.

The hack should keep them fresh for up to two weeks.

Another commented one addition to the hack. They said mould forms because there’s too much water in the containeres.

“Yes this. And put a paper towel in the container with them to absorb any moisture.”
