Storm Eowyn led to challenging conditions at Heathrow airport this morning as gale-force winds stronger than 100mph present a life-threatening risk in certain regions of the UK on Friday morning.
Big Jet TV’s Jerry Dyer captured all the drama from Heathrow Airport as planes struggled to land during Storm Eowyn.
Terrifying footage shows a plane rocking from side to side as it tries to London’s Heathrow Airport but just moments before touching the tarmac the pilot was forced to pull up.
As lumbering planes came howling down from the sky in shocking weather. The aviation enthusiast could be heard saying “easy, easy… wow!” and “look at those flaps… wow that’s crazy man, that’s crazy… oh yeah!”.
In a seperate video from this morning Jerry said: “Easy, easy, wow that was fast.”
Heathrow is under a yellow weather warning for high wind until 3pm this afternoon. Over a thousand flights have been cancelled across the UK and Ireland due to the exceptionally high winds. Dublin, Edinburgh, Heathrow and Glasgow are the four worst affected airports.
It is estimated that a fifth of all flights from UK and Irish airports cancelled, according to Aviation analytics company Cirium.

Several train companies, including Avanti West Coast, Lumo, CrossCountry, and Grand Central, have advised customers against travelling on routes spanning parts of north Wales, Scotland, and northern England with no services running.
Meanwhile, a governmental department on the Isle of Man has declared a major incident due to the impact of Storm Eowyn.
In a post on X the Isle of Man Government wrote: “The department of infrastructure has declared a major incident due to the number of trees down, and the impact of this across arterial and access routes for emergency services.
“Please stay at home, and do not travel unless absolutely necessary while this is resolved.”
