'Stop showing off!' Meghan Markle told to be more like Princess Kate to stop criticism

Meghan Markle has been warned against “showing off” her “privileged lifestyle” if she wants to win over the British public.

The Duchess of Susses has become an unpopular figure in the UK after her acrimonious exit from the Royal Family alongside Prince Harry.

A PR expert believes that the couple has not helped their standing with the public due to their use of private jets, expensive clothing, and lack of reliability with the public.

Speaking to the Mirror, Lynn Carratt, a public relations guru from Press Box PR, said that the Sussexes “need to become more relatable to the British public”.

She added: “Meghan could consider toning down her use of designer labels and opting for frugal options, like Kate.

“Showing herself as a normal working mum who is facing the same challenges as others would also help.”

Ms Carratt added that the public “often dislikes the hypocrisy of the couple showing off their privileged life while trying to resonate and relate to those less fortunate than themselves”.

She continued: “Also, their use of private jets whilst campaigning for climate change is often commented on. Fair or unfair, the public likes to call Meghan and Harry out on these things, so I believe toning these things down would help increase their popularity.

“If Meghan and Harry are set on building their popularity up, there needs to be some consistency and authenticity running across their brand as a couple. Another successful Invictus Games will help Harry’s popularity.”

Ms Carratt also admitted that Harry and Meghan will be criticised “for whatever they do” regardless but said that they also “need to help themselves in fostering the right PR strategy.”

On a recent trip to Canada, Meghan wore outfits worth more than £44,000 in total.

She was seen at the South by Southwest Festival last month wearing a £2,700 outfit.

In her mot recent public outing at a children’s hospital in LA, she wore a £3,300 dress.
