Culinary experts at a UK-based cooking school shared a surprising mistake most people do when making scrambled eggs, and it could be ruining your breakfast.

Scrambled eggs are usually a painless process, but even the simplest of recipes can do wrong.

The experts at St Ives Cookery School revealed its top three tips for making sure your eggs are perfect every time.

One of their tips just happened to identify a mistake you’re probably already making without even realising.

In a TikTok video from earlier this month, the pros explained that seasoning your eggs at the wrong time could be messing them up.

They warned to avoid seasoning your eggs right at the beginning of cooking.

They said: “The salt will start to break down the egg and it’ll go a little bit too wet.”

Salt ultimately breaks down the egg’s protein, causing them to loosen and not bind together during cooking.

This could leave your eggs softer and more tender than desired.

The cookery school’s video has already been viewed over 86,400 times, at the time of writing.

Some egg fans seemed surprised by its revelation with one person saying: “Didn’t know that fact about the salt/seasoning -thanks.”

Christian wrote: “If someone doesn’t know how to scramble eggs they’ve really got problems!”

Hen commented: “Yesss! Someone who really knows how to make scrambled egg.”

Although George argued: “The salt breaking down the egg is how I like it. I’ve cooked scrambled eggs almost every day for the last 3 years and I used to be a ‘salt after’ guy but I prefer them so much with salt before.”
