Samsung rivals Sonos with a secret new speaker that sounds impressive

If you don’t want a speaker that looks like a speaker then the collaboration between Sonos and Ikea has long been a top choice. The SYMFONISK range includes lamps, bookstands and even a picture that all hide speakers inside making them look more like pieces of furniture rather than a music-making boombox.

Now Samsung clearly wants a piece of this action with the Korean company unveiling its new Music Frame lifestyle device. As the name suggests, this device looks just like a standard picture frame but it hides a secret speaker that belts out sound at impressive levels.

Along with playing tunes via Bluetooth, this frame can also be linked to TVs via Samsung’s Q-Symphony technology which means you’ll get a surround sound experience via these frames on your walls.

“Seamlessly blending into its environment by camouflaging itself inside modern picture frames, Music Frame provides high-quality sound while being able to fit anywhere in your home,” said Samsung.

Express.co.uk has seen and heard this device at the CES technology show in Las Vegas and it’s curtly impressive with it offering loud clear audio with plenty of base.

The frame is also simple to personalise with your own photos or pieces of art easily slotting into place. There’s currently no word on price or a launch but it’s one to watch out.

Along with announcing this speaker, Samsung has also revealed its new range of smart TVs. These are getting clever AI to boost the image, audio and user experience.
