Rebuilding to begin at historic movie ranch leveled by wildfire

Years after the Woolsey Fire, construction will start this month at a historic movie ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains, one of the National Park Service sites damaged in the late 2018 blaze.

The National Park Service recently approved a $22.1 million contract with AMG & Associates, Inc. to rebuild in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. In all, six buildings will go up at Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills and at Rocky Oaks in Malibu.

Construction is expected to start June 12 and wrap up by fall 2024.

Both sites were damaged in the Woolsey Fire that started near Simi Valley on Nov. 8, 2018. Three people died in the blaze that burned close to 150 square miles and destroyed more than 1,600 homes and other buildings in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
