Princess Kate used Christmas Day walkabout to show she's 'in control' after backlash

Princess Kate used her appearance on Christmas Day to show she is in control after the backlash over claims made in Omid Scobie’s book, Endgame, a style expert has suggested. Kate wowed the crowd in a royal blue Alexander McQueen coat over a navy blue turtle neck during the Windsors’ walkabout at Sandringham on Christmas Day.

The Princess of Wales appeared relaxed and confident as she walked from Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene Church with Prince William and the couple’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Ahead of the traditional walkabout, style guru Marian Kewi told GB News that Kate would continue to project a “dignified” and “respectable” look in the wake of allegations made in Scobie’s book.

The author alleges Kate was one of two royals who asked what the then unborn Prince Archie Harrison’s skin colour might be. His parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, first made the claim, during their interview with Oprah Winfrey. They have since rowed back on the accusation.

Endgame also raised questions about the strength of Princess Kate’s work ethic, prompting a backlash among some members of the public.

Ms Kwei said: “[Princess Kate] will continue until Christmas Day to use her image through her outfit choices to show that she is poised, in control and elegant.”

Kate’s look was complemented with a blue fascinator with a feather detail, along with sapphire drop earrings, which once belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.

Despite recent criticism of the future queen, royal fans turned out in droves to catch a glimpse of Kate and the Windsors. About 2,000 people were among the crowds on the King’s private Sandringham Estate.

One of those on gathered in Norfolk was Karen Anvil, whose 2018 photo of Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, went viral.

Ms Anvil told Sky News she was there to show her support for the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, who she described as the “fantastic five”.

She said: “I love them. They are absolutely wonderful. We wanted to show our support to them. We think they are brilliant.”

Princess Kate held hands with her children during the walkabout, with Princess Charlotte dressed in a forest green, double breasted coat with velvet collar.

Prince George wore a smart, blue suit while Prince Louis donned a pair of blue and green plaid pants along with a pea coat.

Royal fans gushed at the sight of the Waleses’ youngest son as he walked hand in hand with cousin, Mia Tindall, whose parents, Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall, were behind Prince William and Princess Kate as they walked to church.

Mia and Charlotte also drew royal watchers’ praise as they nattered together after the service, appearing as the best of pals.

For the second year in succession the Duke of York walked from Sandringham to church with the family.

His ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York appeared in public at Sandringham for the first time in 30 years, walking beside her ex-husband.

The Duke and Duchess of York’s daughters were also there with their husbands, Princess Beatrice with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Prince Eugenie with Jack Brooksbank.
