King Charles snubs Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Christmas Day speech

King Charles appeared to snub Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after they failed to get a mention in his annual Christmas Day speech. The monarch welcomed the second festive season of his reign by delivering his Christmas speech to the nation.

While he highlighted the good work of the Prince and Princess of Wales, there was no mention of his youngest son and daughter-in-law.

As the monarch reflected the Royal Family’s work over his Coronation year, pictures of Prince William and Princess Kate doing charity work were shown.

Pictures of other royals such as Princess Anne – who is often deemed the most hard-working royal – and Prince Edward and his wife Sophie were shown.

The absence of any pictures – or mention – of Harry and Meghan comes after a very turbulent year for the couple.

The years began with the release of Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare in January.

Spare came just weeks after the release of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries in December 2022.

In the docuseries – which was release exclusively by the popular streaming service – Harry and Meghan aired more damaging claims about their former life within the Royal Family.

Fast forward to November, Omid Scobie’s Endgame was released. The book reignited the royal race row which caused a lot of controversy.

This is not the first year that Harry and Meghan have failed to get a mention in the King’s Christmas speech.

The King didn’t address his younger son and daughter-in-law on Christmas Day 2022 – opting, again, to focus on the good work of William and Kate.

As clips were shown of Kate and William – as well as their three children – this year, the King said: “Throughout the year, my family have witnessed how people of all ages are making a difference to their communities.

“This is all the more important at a time of real hardship for many, when we need to build on existing ways to support others less fortunate than ourselves.”

December 25 marked the fourth Christmas that Meghan and Harry spent away from the UK. Their first was in 2020 after stepping down as senior working royals.

Harry and Meghan’s son Prince Archie only ever spent his first Christmas in the UK, whereas their daughter Princess Lilibet has only spent hers in the US.
