Princess Kate broke late Queen's golden food rule that monarch had for key reason

The Princess of Wales previously broke one of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s golden food rules, it has been reported.

During an official outing to Great Ormand Street Hospital in 2018, Princess Kate spoke candidly about her family’s favourite foods.

Speaking to the royal, four-year-old Rafael Chana told Kate that he enjoyed olives, and she replied that she loved them too as a child.

The Princess of Wales, who is currently taking time away from royal duty after her recent cancer diagnosis, said: “I used to eat lots and lots of olives when I was little as well.”

The pair then started talking about pasta, with the mother-of-three sharing that Princess Charlotte loves pasta.

Sharing on X, at the time, royal correspondent Rebecca English tweeted: “The Duchess of Cambridge [now Princess of Wales] revealed today that her daughter, Princess Charlotte, loves olives and she encourages both her and Prince George to cook with her.”

As reported by MyLondon, the late Queen is known to have wanted to refrain from ruining her favourite food by having it served to her at every engagement.

She instead wanted a variety and felt that by revealing what she loved, it would be offered on repeat.

Although the late Queen’s favourites remain unknown, a former royal chef previously shared that the late monarch loved chocolate.

According to Darren McGrady, the most popular was the chocolate biscuit cake, which included plenty of rich tea biscuits and chocolate “icing” that was made of pure dark chocolate.

The late Queen’s grandson, Prince William is known to have requested it at his and Princess Kate’s 2011 wedding.

With Charlotte’s favourite snack seemingly grown-up for her age, Princess Kate also previously revealed that now-five-year-old Louis’s favourite vegetable.

Back in 2019, Kate Middleton spoke to baking legend Mary Berry about her family’s love of harvesting their own veggies – including Louis’s love of beetroot.

The royal told Mary: “We grow our own vegetables, we’ve got carrots, beans, beetroot’s a massive favourite, Louis absolutely loves beetroot.”

She also joked that Princess Charlotte “obviously loves her Charlotte potatoes”.

When asked by Mary if she ever cooks with the children, Kate said that she “really enjoys it”.
