Princess Anne showed Prince Harry a warm gesture as he said goodbye to the Queen

Princess Anne showed a warm gesture to Prince Harry as he arrived to bid farewell to the Queen, according to an upcoming book.

The Princess Royal was determined to support her family after the Queen’s passing in September 2022.

Harry rushed to Balmoral after hearing about his grandmother’s failing health. On arrival, he was greeted by Anne, who took him to see the Queen one last time, the book claims.

The biography ‘Charles III: New King, New Court: The Inside Story’ reveals details about the Queen’s final months and the aftermath of her death.

Author Robert Hardman says that the new King asked his sister to manage the arrivals at the Castle in Scotland. She ensured each family member got to say their final goodbyes to the Queen.

“One of the King’s first decisions was to ask Princess Anne to take charge of the house party now rapidly expanding at Balmoral Castle” Mr Hardman wrote in his book, as reported by Mail Online. “The Princess Royal would prove indispensable over the next few days. She was there when Prince Harry eventually arrived.”

“She greeted him with a hug and escorted him up to the Queen’s bedroom, where he was left to pay his respects to his late grandmother.

“Harry then joined the family dinner downstairs. Neither his father nor his brother was there, however. The King and Queen Camilla had, by now, returned to Birkhall, their home on the Balmoral estate.”

A note, penned by her private secretary Sir Edward Young, confirmed the Queen had “slipped away” at Balmoral, with the document now placed in the Royal Archives.

The exact cause of the Queen’s death, according to a close friend of the family, will never be known because she had been suffering from multiple conditions in 2022.

The insider account is one of only a few privy to the knowledge of the Queen’s health battle, with Sir Edward noting her death in the note.

The note said: “Very peaceful. In her sleep. Slipped away. Old age. She wouldn’t have been aware of anything. No pain.”
