Princess Kate underwent abdominal surgery on Wednesday and is to stay in hospital for up to two weeks while she recovers. The surgery was planned but has still come as a shock to fans everywhere.

Reacting to the news, To Di For Daily host Kinsey Schofield said: “It [the operation] opens your eyes when reading about Prince William’s protective nature over the Princess of Wales as outlined in Robert Hardman’s new book.”

Schofield is referring to Robert Hardman’s new royal biography Charles III: New King, New Court. The Inside Story, which lifts the lid on the most recent years of royal life and the key players within it.

The To Di For Daily host added: “While she [Kate] handles things with such kindness and grace and appears to be so stoic, clearly, none of us are invincible and William worries about Catherine as his wife and the mother of their children.

“It makes so much sense and really justifies Prince William’s behavior after a day like today when we are all clearly worried about the princess,” referring to William canceling his engagemnts to take of their three children, so Kate can rest.

The statement reads: “The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery/ Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

Kate also released the following statement via the palace: “The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

According Schofield, Kate has handled the situation with utmost professionalism: “Catherine is a class act. Apologising for prioritising her health and family is completely unnecessary but tells us how important the people she serves are to her and how seriously the princess takes her job.”

“This is not the type of statement we would see from the Sussexes. I really admire the Princess of Wales and wish her a quick recovery.”
