Prince Harry's savage claims on King Charles rubbished by insiders: 'So wrong'

A royal expert has refuted Prince Harry’s claims that King Charles was not made for parenthood.

Prince Harry opened up about his relationship with his father, King Charles, in his memoir “Spare,” recounting poignant moments that shaped his perception of paternal love.

However, a royal expert has now challenged Harry’s narrative, providing a different perspective on the father-son dynamic within the royal family.

Harry’s memoir delved into his upbringing and the emotional distance he felt from his father, particularly in the aftermath of his mother’s death.

He described Charles as a father who struggled to connect emotionally, portraying him as ill-suited to the responsibilities of parenthood, especially as a single parent.

Prince Harry wrote: “He’d always given an air of not being quite ready for parenthood: the responsibilities, the patience, the time. Even he, though a proud man, would have admitted as much. But single-parenthood? Pa was never made for that. To be fair, he tried.”

However, royal reporter Charles Rae, speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, disputed Harry’s characterization of his father, labeling it as “wrong.”

He said: “This is why one of the things Harry said in his book Spare about his father was so so wrong.

“I watched the then Prince with his children and he was as loving to those boys as was Diana. Diana was much more extrovert.”

He described an instance where Diana eagerly greeted her boys as they arrived on the Royal Britannia, while Charles maintained a polite demeanor with the ship’s crew.

“Diana and Charles had just finished a job…Diana walks up the gangplank, Charles is very polite, he stands there and says ‘hello’ to the captain, first officer and cook.”

He recalled: “Diana ignores them all and runs practically down the gangplank with her arms wide open and the boys rushed up to her – and that’s the picture that made the newspapers all over the world.”
