Fans 'in tears' at King Charles's sweet gesture to little girl on royal visit

King Charles almost brought royal fans to tears as he presented a gift bag to an adorable flower girl outside University College Hospital (UCH) in London today.

His Majesty made a welcome return to royal duties for the first time since he announced his cancer diagnosis in February, as he and Queen Camilla visited the Macmillan Cancer Centre at UCH.

Outside the building the royals were greeted by a little girl handing the King a bunch of flowers, and he responded in kind with his own gift, handing her a gift bag with the royal insignia printed on the side.

The charming interaction went down a treat with royal watchers on social media, with one saying: “How beautiful is that!! I have a bit of dust in my eye.”

Another commented: “awwwwww so sweet!!” while a third wrote: “What a treasure..” and a fourth said: “Such a thoughtful gesture by Charles and also thoughtful of the adorable little girl to give him flowers.”

The King sought to reassure well-wishers who had gathered to see him during his public return, with Camilla holding the fort at royal engagements for the past couple of months.

When being asked how his treatment was going, he responded: “I’m alright. Thank you” and he seemed incredibly pleased to be back out interacting with people again.

Although his cancer treatment is still ongoing, Charles is hoping to be well enough to attend several big events over the summer as his doctors remain hopeful about his prognosis.

Another X user wrote after hearing about his latest patronage: “So good to see King Charles raising awareness about the importance of early cancer diagnosis.”

In one touching moment the King sympathised with a fellow cancer patient who is facing the next round of treatment this afternoon, as he admitted he was also facing further treatment today.

News about His Majesty’s illness was made public on February 5, however it has not yet been disclosed what kind of cancer he is being treated for.
