Prince Harry’s return ‘silver lining’ amid King Charles' cancer battle, says Linda Nolan

Linda Nolan has described Prince Harry’s return to the UK as the “silver lining” following King Charles’ “shocking” cancer diagnosis. On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced the monarch had been diagnosed with the disease, though the type of cancer has not been revealed.

Linda, who is battling incurable cancer, has said she was “truly saddened” by the news and that his diagnosis after waiting “so long for the top job” feels “so unfair”. However, she went on to suggest that the news might help bring the royal family closer together.

The star was first diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer in 2005 before overcoming it a year later. However, in 2017 she was told that she had a form of incurable secondary cancer, which spread to her hip in 2020 and to her brain last year

The 64-year-old is not the only one out of the famous Nolan sisters to be diagnosed with cancer. Her sister Coleen recently shared her skin cancer scare with Loose Women viewers, while their other sister Anne previously underwent successful treatment for cancer twice.

Linda has also opened up about their late sister Bernie, who died of breast cancer at the age of 52 in 2012, and how her health struggles brought the family together at a difficult time. It comes after years of distance between Prince Harry, his wife Meghan Markle and the rest of the royal family.

In her new column for The Mirror, she wrote: “Telling your family you have cancer is the hardest thing.

“Charles will stay upbeat for Camilla, William and Harry, and keep his crown on straight for the rest of us, but he’ll need his moments.

“Finally, and I’m sure he’s looking for silver linings as we all do, there is at least one. Prince Harry has come home.

“When Bernie was very ill with her cancer some of us sisters had fallen out and hadn’t been speaking.

“But the moment the news came all that stopped and paled into insignificance.

“We got together in Blackpool and except for Bernie declining her usual attempt at performing Riverdance, we were as we’d always been.

“Family is the most important thing, cancer makes that very clear,” she added.

King Charles was diagnosed with cancer following a recent treatment for an enlarged prostate, though the palace has confirmed the illness is not prostate cancer.

The King, who will postpone his public appointments while he attends regular treatments for the illness, apparently “remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible”.

Prince William is said to be in regular contact with his father, while Prince Harry flew in from his US home to visit his father yesterday, reuniting with him for the first time since his diagnosis.
