Prince Harry to see 'repercussions from his memoir for years' as he 'picks up the pieces'

Prince Harry’s memoir Spare was a “bombshell” for the Royal Family that will have repercussions for years. The Duke of Sussex’s book left The Firm reeling and will continue to cause ripples next year and the year after too, according to a royal expert.

The Daily Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers shared his opinions on how 2023 had fared for the royals on Sky News Australia. He talked about the highs and lows of the year so far – and said that the impact of Prince Harry’s book is far reaching for the family.

Mr Myers said: “You start off at the beginning of the year, we had Harry’s memoir Spare which was an absolute bombshell throughout the Royal Family.

“We’re still talking about it now. He’s still picking up the pieces of his sort of battered relationship with his father and his brother.

“Absolutely nobody was spared – excuse the pun – from his barbs in that book and I think we’ll still see the repercussions of that in the next year or two and whether Harry can sort of find a way back into the family remains to be seen.”

He was then asked by the host if he had any predictions for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan for the year to come – including on if he thought the pair would split or if the Duke was going to apologise to King Charles and reconcile.

Mr Myers said everything connected with the pair has been an “absolute bonfire” and that he was dubious about the “big exciting things” that Meghan has “on the slate.”

However he conceded that whatever happens “we’ll all be talking about it.”

Meanwhile Meghan Markle has been warned that 2024 might not be the best time for her to release a tell-all memoir herself, even though she “has lots to say”. The Duchess of Sussex is rumoured to be thinking about writing a revealing book, especially since Prince Harry’s release earlier this year.

But PR expert Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR says it’s not the right time for a Meghan memoir. She said: “I am sure that is still the plan and it will form part of their deal with Penguin.”

Ms Carratt added: “But timing is everything and 2024 wouldn’t be the right time for its release.”
