Prince Harry and Meghan Markle blasted as the 'relegate royals of Montecito' by expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been dubbed the “relegate royals of Montecito” in a brutal 2023 review of the Royal Family.

Speaking to Sky News, broadcaster and columnist Esther Krakue gave her rundown on life within the Firm in 2023 as she spoke about some of the key events witnessed this year.

Speaking to Sky News host Caroline Di Russo she said: “2023 started off with the publication of Spare by Harry which, following the Netflix documentary and the Oprah Winfrey interview, was just another in a series of the Sussexes whinging and complaining and allegations against how poorly they were treated by the Royal Family.

“Going from that to the South Park episode which was effectively mocking the Sussexes and talking about their worldwide privacy tour. It’s really been quite a rollercoaster of a year but it’s been enjoyable as well.

“It’s an honour to report on the coming and goings of the Royal Family and even the relegate royals of Montecito.”

It comes amid news that Prince Harry will be absent from the Royal Family’s coronation documentary – despite him being there earlier this year. Ms Krakue said his absence was “not a surprise” as she said he “didn’t feature in the coronation at all”.

She added: “His children and his wife opted to stay in California even though for some reason he insisted on giving his kids the prince and princess title. He was not the focus, this was not about him.”

Clips from King Charles III’s coronation were shown on BBC One on Boxing Day and gave fans a behind the scenes glimpse at the rehearsals.

While the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all featured in the documentary, Harry was nowhere to be seen.

The Duke of Sussex attended the event at Westminster Abbey on his own in May after Meghan opted to stay at their Montecito home in California. He was pictured shortly afterward the ceremony getting into a vehicle and leaving.

Other clips from the documentary showed Charles walking around Balmoral with Queen Camilla ahead of the event.

Some have criticised the BBC for not delving into some of the issues that have plagued the Royal Family this year, with numerous accusations being made against them by the Sussexes and biographer Omid Scobie.
