Prince Harry slammed for being 'out of touch' after announcing upcoming Netflix show

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be making two new shows with Netflix, but a royal expert claims this shows how “out of touch” Prince Harry is with the public.

The couple’s newest venture will include a cooking show that will “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship” while the other will revolve around polo, a sport Harry keenly plays.

In 2020 the couple signed a five-year deal with the platform to produce content, with their biggest hit being their documentary series Harry and Meghan which lifted the lid on their relationship and their time in the Royal Family.

However, Royal expert Rafe-Heydel Mankoo slammed Prince Harry for being “out of touch” for making a show about Polo.

In a conversation with GB news, Mankoo said: “Actually it shows the problem with Harry because the fact that he’s doing a show on polo, which is hardly a mass appeal thing shows that there’s not much of a commercial skill set he actually has.

The first series will be curated by Meghan, with Leah Hariton as showrunner and Michael Steed as director and produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Intellectual Property.

The last project released on Netflix by Archewell Productions, owned and set up by the Sussexes, was Heart of Invictus, which dropped last August and told the story of the Invictus Games behind the scenes.

With their deal with Netflix set to expire in 2025, there had been speculation over what Harry and Meghan could do next if their contract is not renewed.

But they are already forging new partnerships, as Meghan revealed earlier this year that she has signed a new podcast deal with Lemonada Media.

This comes after they parted ways with Spotify last year, having produced just twelve episodes of Meghan’s podcast series Archetypes together.
