Prince Harry is desperate to make UK return – but won't until one condition is met

Prince Harry is very “keen” to return to the UK but there is one particular thing that needs to be arranged before that happens, an insider has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in Montecito, California, after they quit their royal duties in 2020 and moved to the US.

The couple have been estranged from the Royal Family ever since, whilst they’ve also made various claims against them over the years through a series of interviews, their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, as well as the Duke of Sussex’s memoir Spare.

But recent reports suggested the duke wants to make amends and reconcile with his estranged family.

A source that is close to the Montecito couple exclusively told Express.co.uk that, while the rift between the Sussexes and the Royal Family is growing ever wider and hopes are fading that Harry will be able to patch things up with his father, King Charles, and brother Prince William, the duke is longing to come back to his home country.

Harry is allegedly willing to buy a house in the countryside so his family, including his son, Prince Archie and daughter, Princess Lilibet can spend as much time as they want in England.

But they stressed Harry needs one thing to be arranged before that happens – and that is his security.

The Duke of Sussex has challenged the decision of the Home Office to downgrade his publicly-funded security after he quit his royal duties.

In December, he said in a recent High Court hearing that he and his wife “felt forced” to leave the Royal Family and his children can’t “feel at home” in the UK due to their lack of security.

The source said: “Harry is keen to come back to the UK this year, but there needs to be a lot ironed out in terms of security arrangements and other logistics before that can happen.”

They added: “Harry wants to secure a house for the family in the countryside so that they can spend as much time as they want in England.”

It comes as the source revealed that Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland has moved into the couple’s mansion to help them through “tough times” after a difficult 2023.

They claimed: “2023 was a tough year for both Harry and Meghan and Doria has been there for them.

“Harry adores her as well and loves having her there. There are times when he needs alone time, so Doria heads over to the guesthouse to make herself scarce when needed.”

“[He] appreciates the warmth and kindness that Doria brings to the family.”
