Prince Harry becoming US citizen is 'inevitability' because of one key reason

Prince Harry becoming a US citizen is becoming more and more of an “inevitability” because of the issues hes faced with securing protection in the UK, a royal expert said.

Last week, Prince Harry switched his primary residence from the UK to the US, with the paperwork being retrospectively dated to June 2023.

This was when he and Meghan left Frogmore Cottage in London and moved stateside.

But the difficulty he has faced obtaining security in the UK when he visits home could push him to apply for citizenship in the country.

In February, Harry lost his battle to overturn RAVEC’s (Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures) decision to withdraw his state-funded security in the UK.

At the time, Harry’s legal team argued that without full-time protection, the prince does not feel safe bringing his family to Britain.

His lawyers are expected to appeal the judges decision who ruled that RAVEC acted legally.

In The Royal Report podcast, royal reporter Jack Royston from Newsweek said Harry’s lack of protection in the UK could push him towards applying for US citizenship.

He said: “I am starting to lean more towards feeling like Harry applying for U.S. citizenship in a permanent way is becoming something of a mild inevitability. Not necessarily a pressing urgency, but a long-term mild inevitability, largely because of the police protection issue.”

In a recent interview with Good Morning America, the Duke of Sussex was previously asked his thoughts about becoming a US citizen.

Interviewer Will Reeve probed: “Do you feel American? ” Harry countered: “Do I feel American? ” followed swiftly by an unequivocal answer… “No.”

“I don’t know how I feel,” he further divulged. The presenter then queried what might hold him back from seeking American nationality.

Harry confessed: “I have no idea. I’m here standing next to these guys. The American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind, but certainly not something that is a priority for me right now.”
