Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'main problem with America' laid bare by expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may find themselves hung out to dry by Hollywood if they do not come up with a different story to tell, one royal expert has stated.

Since moving to California in 2020 the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have attempted to carve out a path for themselves in the entertainment industry through their projects with Netflix and Spotify.

However these have so far yielded mixed results, with Richard Kay telling Palace Confidential that the couple have now “crossed the Rubico” from royalty into celebrity.

He explained: “They are Hollywood celebrities with that extra factor, if you like, because of their titles. I’m not sure in the long-term where it’s going to leave them.

“The problem they’re going to have in America as we’ve discussed many times on this show is America has a short-term system, they’re enthralled to celebrity for a while, but after a while if a celebrity is a bit of a one trick pony, they’ve only got one story to tell – in Harry’s case possibly that’s true – then they’ll move on to the next new thing.”

This year has so far marked a fresh start for Meghan, as after losing their deal with Spotify last year she has now signed up to produce a new podcast with Lemonada Media.

The company will also be responsible for re-releasing her Archetypes series, 12 episodes of interviews with different celebrities about how they overcome certain stereotypes in their work.

Just last week the Duchess also unveiled her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, which is set to sell a range of home and kitchenware, as well as some foods.

The name of the brand is thought to be a nod to Montecito, where Harry and Meghan live, which is sometimes referred to as the ‘American Riviera’ due to its scenery and climate.

An insider told PEOPLE: “Meghan finds the name American Riviera Orchard perfect. It feels authentic to her. She can’t wait for the website to launch.

“She is excited about her latest, personal venture. This is something she’s been wanting to do for a while. She is excited to share her style and things that she loves.”
