Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcome new family member after rescuing them from bullies

Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle may no longer have their HRH titles – but royal fans have suggested that their latest addition to the family should have.

It’s been revealed that the Sussexes have adopted one of superstar pal Ellen DeGeneres’s chickens after it was being bullied by fellow birds.

Animal lover DeGeneres, 65, had been sharing regular health updates with fans about the rescue chicken named Sinkie who suffered a broken fibula bone in her leg shortly before Christmas.

But it was time to move her to a more royal homestead after the rest of her flock rejected her.

DeGeneres took to Instagram to say: “Sinkie’s leg is fixed but our chickens were still picking on her so she had to be re-homed.

“Luckily our friends Harry and Meghan’s coop had room for one more. Not sure yet what her royal title will be.”

The picture appeared to be taken outside the Sussex’s large wooden coop and royal watchers immediately offered suggestions for a new royal name for the bird.

One suggested: “Dutchess of Yolk.”

“HRH Sinkie,” said another.

“Lady Sinkington would be such a cute royal name for Sinkie,” another fan commented with another suggesting: “Her heness”.

Prince Harry and Meghan have been friends with Ellen and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, for years.

And it’s not the first time a pet adoption has brought them closer together – with DeGeneres insisting that Meghan adopt a dog at a pet shelter.

Meghan recalled the encounter in an interview in Best Health in 2017, explaining: “Now, I don’t know her, but Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog?’

“And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m deciding.’ And she’s like, ‘Rescue the dog!’

“It’s sort of like if Oprah tells you to do something. I’m sitting there holding him and she’s like ‘Have you thought of a name for him yet?’ And I said, ‘Well, I think I’d name him Bogart,’ and she’s like ‘You’re taking the dog home.’

“And she walks outside to get into her car but instead of getting in she turns around and comes and taps on the window glass and she yells ‘Take the dog!’ And so I brought him home. Because Ellen told me to.”
