Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exposed over 'dreadful lapses of judgement'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stumbled upon a series of “dreadful lapses of judgement” since the publication of the Duke of Sussex’s memoir last year, a royal commentator has claimed.

The couple have experienced significant issues with their popularity following the publication of Spare, which came only weeks after they released their first major project with Netflix.

The docuseries Harry & Meghan was met with some criticism over the allegations the couple levelled against the Royal Family.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Express the memoir likely influenced coverage about the couple for the rest of the years, highlighting their difficulties in securing persistent public support.

Fitzwilliams said: “Since Spare was published a year ago, it was a success financially but revealed dreadful lapses of judgement.

“South Park sent them up, polls showed a decline in support in the US and William was voted the most respected public figure by Gallup.”

Harry and Meghan’s popularity fluctuated throughout 2023 and took another plunge at the end of the year following the publication of Omid Scobie’s controversial Endgame.

The couple haven’t addressed any of the claims made in the book and have, in fact, shied away from the public sphere in recent months.

PR expert Eddie Coram James last month told this publication: “For now, their reputations are too far gone.

“So, even the known information from the Scobie book appears to have done little to remove the generally negative sentiment towards them. To put it bluntly.

“All things remaining equal, and this week should have been very bad for the Wales’, and very good for the Sussexes. But, the cookie hasn’t crumbled that way.”

He added: “Truth be told, I think that a lot of this is down to story fatigue.

“The general public has made up their minds about the Sussexes, and generally speaking the conclusion has been unfavourable towards them.”

Sources close to the couple have claimed Harry and Meghan want to claim 2024 as a “year of redemption” and focus on new project in line with the mission statement of their non-profit organisation Archewell.
