Prince Louis drew laughter as he smashed a Terry’s Chocolate Orange on the floor during a church service on Christmas Day.

Playful Louis, six, was asked to pitch in during the Royal Family’s traditional gathering at St Mary Magdalene Church near Sandringham.

Reverend Canon Dr Paul Rhys Williams included the sweet treat in his sermon and asked the congregation if anyone knew how best to separate the segments.

According to The Sun, he said you have to tap it and unwrap it. Royal fans gathered outside the church, listening to the service via speakers, then heard him tell Prince Louis, “Just drop it.”

They heard a loud bang as the chocolate slammed onto the floor.

When the clergyman asked if any children inside St Mary Magdalene had received any sweets for Christmas, Louis could be heard calling out: “Marshmallows.”

Louis could be seen holding a chocolate orange and Cadbury’s Selection Box during a walkabout after the church service.

He joined parents Prince William and Princess Kate, along with siblings Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, nine, for the occasion.

The younger Waleses drew praise from the adoring crowds, with one woman telling Princess Charlotte she is “gorgeous” after sharing a selfie with her.

Charlotte said thank you before returning to her father’s side.

William was forced to intervene as George, Charlotte and Louis were given so many sweet treats by members of the public, telling fans: “No, no, you can’t give all the chocolates. Definitely not. You’ve got to keep them for yourself as well.”

The future king and queen also accepted gifts from the crowd, with William seen clutching a book and Kate receiving bunches of flowers and Get Well Soon cards.

Kate even received a scarf from a fan who had travelled to Sandringham from Paris, a distance of 384 miles. Louis Beauchamp, 29, told the Telegraph the princess was “genuine” and “down to earth”.

He added: “She’s had a tough year – she needs to know her fans are still here.”

William has previously described this year as “brutal”, with both his father, King Charles, and wife being treated for cancer. He said 2024 has probably been the hardest year of his life and was a “dreadful” experience.
