Traffic has severely slowed down on the M6 in Warwickshire following a “serious multiple-vehicle collision”.
National Highways warned drivers the motorway was closed southbound on Thursday morning between J3 and J2 near Coventry.
Drivers in the area face an added 60 minutes to their journey.
All emergency services are working at the scene, with the response being led by Warwickshire police.
A diversion route is in place, with motorists being advised to follow the Hollow Square diversion symbol on road sign.
