Only those with a high IQ can spot all the festive words in under 25 seconds

With Christmas round the corner, you can’t be blamed for taking your foot off the pedal and relaxing a bit. Many drift off during those last few festive work days, daydreaming about snow, turkey and Bailey’s.

It’s important to keep we brain active though – especially as we age. Keeping mentally fit can stave off cognitive decline which is associated with a range of nasty diseases like Alzheimer’s. If you’re not doing much at your job, then why not keep your brain warm with this fantastic puzzle.

Lots of people are giving this Christmas-themed task a good go, although a lot are struggling. All you have to do is find the ten festive words which are all hiding in plain sight. While the first three are startlingly obvious, things quickly get tricky.

Before you start though, get your timer out and ready – those who find all ten words in under 89 seconds officially have a higher-than-average IQ, according to Preply, the makers of the puzzle. Really intelligent people should be aiming for 25 seconds. Why not gather your friends and family and all give it a go in the same room?

If you can’t spot ginger bread straight away then you may need to add sorting your eyesight out to your list of New Year’s Resolutions, as it is the most obvious in the task. It is so easy, in fact, that it counts as a bonus answer.

Give it a go now, and once you’ve given up, you can have a look at the answers below.

The full list of words is as follows:

  • Reindeer

  • Elves

  • Snow

  • Santa

  • Bauble

  • Mistletoe

  • Presents

  • Scrooge

  • Yuletide

  • Tinsel

If you’re still confused about where the words are hiding, here are three tips for the hardest ones:

“Oh Starry Night”

“Santa Clause is coming to town market”

“The tide is high”

How’d you get on? Tell us exactly how many seconds it took you so we can work out whether Express readers are smarter than Preply think they are.
