Whisper it quietly but it’s starting to look a lot like Christmas.
This is the enchanting winter wonderland scene at Wakehurst Place which has turned its perfectly manicured lawns into a spectacular lantern trail.
Earlier in the year Kew’s wild botanic garden in West Sussex was a glorious festival of colour as daffodils, magnolias and cherry blossoms burst into life.
But tonight a riot of artifical colour will explode at nightfall for its annual Glow Wild exhibition.
As temperatures dip to below freezing, the gardens in the stunning country estate in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will be transformed into a light fantastic wonderland, inspired by the hidden world of trees, illuminated by one thousand lanterns and set to music.
And at the centre stands Britain’s tallest Christmas tree at a vertiginous 37 metres (121 ft).
One regular visitor said: “It is a sight to behold and utterly magical.”
Glow Wild runs until January 1.
