MoD under mounting pressure to give details on its Fujitsu security contracts

A former Armed Forces Minister has urged the Ministry of Defence to come clean over its reliance on Fujitsu for security contracts.

Tory MP Mark Francois, who now serves on the Defence Select Committee, blasted the MoD for not revealing details of its contracts with the company at the centre of the Post Office-Horizon scandal.

In response, Defence Minister James Cartlidge admitted the MoD has 12 contracts with Fujitsu, but did not give the value of them as “each is commercially sensitive”.

Now Mr Francois says ministers must provide further contract details because of the potential security implications if the software systems have the same problems as Horizon.

The senior MP said: “The fact the MoD are hiding behind commercial confidentiality shows how embarrassed they are by their reliance on Fujitsu.
