Meghan's 'ridiculous' global brand torn apart: 'Britain too small for her'

Meghan Markle has been criticised for attempting to take her new brand – American Riviera Orchard – global.

The 42-year-old launched her brand last month, with its first release – a strawberry jam – said to be using fruit grown in her Californian home.

Meghan recently sent out 50 jars to friends and American influencers, some of which shared the product on their social media accounts.

Speaking to GB News, royal expert Angela Levin said that Britain was “too small” for Meghan – with ‘global’ being deemed Meghan’s “favourite word”.

Referring to the concept as “silly”, Ms Levin added that the limited release means that the “rest of us won’t be able to taste the jam”.

Speaking of the brand – which was launched on March 14 – as a whole, Ms Levin added: “I just think it’s a ridiculous idea. And I think it’s very silly to come up with one thing. You don’t know what the next thing is, but she is trying to go globally.

“That word globally is absolutely Meghan’s favourite word, because Britain was too small for her.

“She always wanted to be global, so if she can sell things globally, she will be thrilled to bits.”

Speaking on the claim that Meghan grew the fruit at home, Ms Levin added: “I didn’t believe it. Is this a time when you’re going to even get raspberries and strawberries?

“And adding the sentence that King Charles used to buy his [fruit] in, I thought, oh, you’re just sort of building up against him.”

Discussing the packaging, and the numbers added to the jars, the expert added that they are “not like a painting” that people are going to “keep forever”.

Criticising the former working royal, Ms Levin said: “It’s not a wonderful thing that somebody is going to make and you’re going to keep forever.

“Are we meant to keep the empty jar, or are we meant to keep the jam, because it’s so special at $30 a jar. It’s ridiculous.”

Meghan has been tipped to return to the UK with Prince Harry next month.

The Duke of Sussex is set to attend a special ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, with Meghan also listed as a potential guest – but reportedly with ‘TBC’ [to be confirmed] marked next to her name.

The couple could also be joined by their two children – Prince Archie, four, and Princess Liliebt, two – in the UK.
